Oklahoma  17

Nebraska 7

Lincoln, Nebraska (November 21, 1987) -It was billed as "Game of the Century Two" as number one Nebraska faced number two Oklahoma. But the ending came out different in the sequel.
The Huskers claimed the number one spot the week before under unusual circumstances. The Huskers were idle the week before the matchup, while the top ranked, and undefeated Sooners turned in an unimpressive 17-13 win over Missouri. The Sooners also lost starting quarterback Jamelle Holieway and fullback Lydell Carr to injuries. The combination lead voters to drop the Sooners to second and hand the number one ranking to Nebraska.
Nebraska aimed to prove the pollsters right as they jumped out to a first quarter 7-0 lead on a 25 yard run by Keith Jones. It was then time for the defenses to take over as neither team cracked the scoreboard for th rest of the half.
The Sooners took control in the second half as they shut down Nebraska's vaunted running game and got their own in gear. Anthony Stafford took the ball in from 11 yards out for the Sooners first score. Patrick Collins matched it with a 65 yard touchdown run later in the third period. A fourth quarter 27 yard Tim Lasher field goal put things out of reach as the Sooners reclaimed the number one ranking and a trip to the Orange Bowl.
Sooner quarterback Charles Thompson rushed for 126 yards while running back Rotnie Anderson added 119 more as the Black Shirts found themselves out-manned for the first time this season.
